Consultancy that raises standards

I work with schools to identify what isn’t working, strengthen systems, and support staff to implement sustainable improvements.

My work focuses on the areas most likely to come under pressure from Ofsted, local authorities and families - including attendance, behaviour and exclusions, safeguarding, SEND inclusion, curriculum coherence and digital strategy.

What I offer

Consultancy

Targeted, time-limited support that strengthens whole-school systems and builds staff confidence.

I work with schools and trusts to review, refine and embed sustainable improvements in the areas most likely to come under pressure from Ofsted, local authorities and families. My work is advisory and capacity-building; supporting leaders and staff to improve systems, not replacing existing roles.

Support is tailored to your context and priorities, with a clear focus on clarity, consistency and measurable impact.

Typical consultancy work includes:

  • Attendance and EBSA systems
Reviewing attendance pathways, early intervention processes and SEND-aware approaches to reduce persistent absence.

  • Behaviour, inclusion and reducing exclusions
Strengthening behaviour frameworks to improve consistency, reduce escalation and support inclusive practice.

  • SEND and inclusive practice
Reviewing SEND systems, strengthening provision and supporting EHCP-ready evidence and processes.

  • Safeguarding systems and DSL support
Auditing safeguarding practice, reviewing thresholds and documentation, and supporting DSL confidence and decision-making.

  • Curriculum and assessment review
Reviewing curriculum intent, coherence and assessment practice (including Computer Science and cross-school strategy).

  • Policy review and improvement planning
Evaluating policies to ensure they are workable, compliant and embedded in day-to-day practice.

  • Bespoke CPD and leadership coaching
Targeted training and mentoring for staff and leaders, including new post holders (e.g. DSL, SENCO, Head of Department, Head of Year/Key Stage).

Short-term SLT cover

Experienced, solutions-focused leadership when your school needs stability and momentum.

I provide short-term senior or middle leadership cover that ensures continuity, staff confidence, and clear strategic direction during times of change, absence, or restructuring. Schools can depend on me to hit the ground running, build rapport quickly, and maintain focus on priorities without disruption.

Support can include:

  • Interim leadership cover
Acting Head of Department, DSL, SENCO or Key Stage Leader cover during periods of transition or absence.

  • Improvement leadership
Leading safeguarding, inclusion or curriculum improvement work at a whole-school or departmental level.

  • Stability during change
Providing clarity, structure and consistency for staff teams during periods of transition.

  • Review and reporting
Reviewing key areas and producing clear reports to inform governors, Ofsted preparation and school improvement planning.

I bring the foresight and flexibility needed to lead confidently in dynamic circumstances - keeping systems moving forward, standards high, and staff supported until permanent leadership is in place.

Digital Standards & Whole-School Digital Strategy

Strategic support to help schools meet digital standards and strengthen whole-school digital systems

Schools are expected to work towards meeting the DfE’s digital and technology standards by 2030. National survey data shows that awareness of the standards is increasing, but remains inconsistent, and fewer than one in five schools believe they are currently meeting them.

I work alongside the Digital Lead and SLT to review current provision, agree realistic priorities and develop a clear plan, coordinating with trusted partners where technical delivery is needed.

Why schools work with me

IT providers deliver technical solutions. My role is to ensure those solutions are right for the school - educationally sound and aligned with safeguarding, inclusion and governance expectations.

I work with the Digital Lead and SLT to provide:

  • independent, education-led oversight (not advice tied to selling products)

  • clear priorities before solutions are selected

  • alignment with school improvement, workload, inclusion and safeguarding

  • coordination across multiple providers, giving leaders a single strategic view

  • translation between education and technology to support confident SLT and governor decision-making

This approach leaves schools well placed to work directly with providers with clarity and confidence.

Digital standards focus areas

Support is aligned to the six core digital and technology standards, working alongside school leaders and trusted partners where technical delivery is required:

  • Broadband internet – reviewing reliability and capacity, coordinating upgrades where needed

  • Wireless network – supporting secure, robust networks that enable learning and safeguarding

  • Network switching – reviewing internal infrastructure for resilience and future readiness

  • Digital leadership and governance – clarifying roles, accountability and oversight with SLT and governors

  • Filtering and monitoring – strengthening digital safeguarding in practice with the Digital Lead and DSL

  • Cyber security – reviewing risk management, incident response and compliance

Understanding your struggles

Leading a school today involves balancing competing priorities - improving outcomes, supporting staff, meeting accountability expectations and responding to rapid change.

I work alongside school leaders with a deep, practical understanding of school contexts, having sat at multiple sides of the table. Schools can be confident they are in safe, experienced hands: I understand the realities leaders are working within, can get straight to what matters, and work efficiently and discreetly. My focus is on practical problem-solving that strengthens systems, builds staff confidence and delivers clear, measurable results without adding unnecessary workload.

My experience

With over 15 years’ experience across education, leadership and advisory roles, I bring a deep understanding of how schools operate, how decisions are made, and what genuinely drives sustainable improvement.

My background includes:

  • Senior leadership roles
Experience as Head of Department, Head of Year, Head of Key Stage and Acting Assistant Headteacher, leading curriculum, safeguarding, inclusion and improvement priorities in complex school contexts.

  • School improvement & Ofsted readiness
Supporting curriculum deep dives, SEF and SIP review, data analysis, staff readiness and the development of clear leadership narratives that evidence impact across departments.

  • Safeguarding leadership (DSL)
Designated Safeguarding Lead experience with strong knowledge of statutory frameworks, policy compliance and multi-agency working.

  • SEND and inclusion leadership
First-hand experience of supporting complex needs, coordinating provision and embedding inclusive practice across teams.

  • Classroom teaching experience
Extensive experience as a qualified teacher across secondary, post-16 and vocational education.

  • Digital and IT leadership
Experience working within an IT organisation and supporting schools with digital systems, strategy and governance, bridging educational priorities with technical delivery.

  • Strategic leadership qualification (NPQSL)
National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership, strengthening expertise in strategic leadership, accountability and school improvement aligned with Ofsted expectations.

  • Postgraduate study in SEN and Inclusion
Current Master’s study in SEN and Inclusive Education, ensuring consultancy work remains research-informed, policy-aligned and grounded in inclusive practice.

This combination of education, safeguarding, inclusion and digital expertise allows me to provide consultancy that is strategic, evidence-based and practical - focused on strengthening systems, building leadership confidence and supporting long-term school improvement.
